With a background that combines frontend development and product design, he focuses on creating digital experiences that are clear, intuitive, and efficient without unnecessary complexity. In this interview, Lucas shares how his early experience in e-commerce shaped his perspective on UX, why communication between designers and developers matters, and how AI may simplify the way users interact with digital products in the future.

Why did you decide to step into the design field? What inspires you, and why?

I actually started my career working as a frontend developer in e-commerce. My manager at the time was a graphic designer responsible for designing the screens and user flows.

Over time he started including me in meetings with clients, and that’s where I began to understand how design decisions were made and how user experience could influence user behavior, especially in e-commerce.

That experience sparked my interest in design, so I started studying graphic design and eventually specialized in UX/UI, which is what I focus on today.

How do you measure the success of your design?

For me, the success of a design is closely tied to achieving the business objective behind it. Most products are created to solve a business need, whether that’s increasing sales, improving conversions, or making processes more efficient.

At the same time, this only works if the user experience is clear and intuitive. That’s why listening to users is essential, because it helps identify pain points and opportunities for improvement.

In the end, successful design happens when business goals and user needs align.

What is your biggest challenge in the design creation process?

One of the biggest challenges is balancing the ideal design solution with the actual scope of the project. Sometimes the goal is to deliver a specific feature or an MVP, so it’s important to stay focused on what really needs to be solved.

Another challenge is technical feasibility. That’s why constant communication with developers is essential to understand the limitations and design the best solution within those constraints.

What principles do you follow when creating attention-grabbing design?

I usually aim for a simple and clear design. I rely on visual hierarchy using typography, color, and spacing to guide the user’s attention.

I’m inspired by clean and intuitive products like Airbnb or Mercado Libre, where the interface doesn’t distract users and focuses on the main action.

The goal is to keep things simple so users can quickly understand what to do next.

What, in your opinion, is the future of design? Or the next big change?

I think AI will play a big role in the future of design, not as a replacement for designers but as a powerful tool. Designers will still need to provide the vision, the criteria, and the understanding of users and business goals.

What will change is how products work. Many complex tasks that users do manually today will likely become automated with AI.

For example, in some management systems, users currently have to upload documents and manually fill out many fields. With AI, a system could analyze the document, extract the information, and complete those fields automatically.

Because of this, I believe many complex systems will become simpler and more efficient for users in the future.
