Oussama Chuiter on Vibe Coding, Visual Storytelling, and Minimalist UX

Oussama Chuiter is a Morocco-based Visual Designer and UI/UX Designer whose work explores the intersection of minimalist UX, visual storytelling, Framer experiences, and AI-assisted creativity. In this interview, Oussama Chuiter reflects on vibe coding,” human behavior in design, and why creating meaningful digital products requires more than simply learning tools or following trends. His words have been lightly edited for clarity and flow while preserving their original meaning and tone.

“A design truly resonates when it feels as natural and seamless as a well-practiced daily routine.”

Was there a turning point that made you see design as more than just an interest?

The turning point was in 2019, i was studying humanities, specifically in religious and cultural relations, but I discovered Graphic Design by chance. What started as a side interest quickly became a passion in 2024 when i realized i could solve problems through visuals, later moving from static design to building functional websites and tools, made me see design as a career not just a hobby.

What, for you, separates a “good” design from one that truly resonates?

A ‘good’ design is functional and clean, but a ‘resonating’ design feels personal and invisible, it resonates when it respects the user’s culture and habits like the local rituals i value. For me a design truly resonates when it feels as natural and seamless as a well-practiced daily routine.

What part of creating feels the most uncertain or unpredictable to you?

The most unpredictable part is the ‘Handover’ the moment a design leaves Figma and becomes a live product. No matter how perfect the prototype is, you can’t always predict how a user will feel or interact with it in real time.

When everything is competing for attention, how do you decide what should stand out?

I follow a philosophy of ‘Essentialism’ if everything is a priority nothing is, i decide what stands out by identifying the core action the user needs to take, i love use minimalist layouts or clean typography to guide the user’s eye naturally, ensuring that the most important element is the first thing the eye finds.

Have you ever had to rethink your approach after something didn’t land? What shifted for you?

Yes, early in my career, i focused too much on ‘looking cool’ and ignored the technical constraints. After a project didn’t perform as expected, i shifted my focus to user centered design, i started learning the ‘engine’ behind the visuals the code and the logic to ensure that my aesthetic choices actually supported the user’s goals and the system’s performance.

Where do you see the biggest challenge or transformation happening in design right now?

The biggest transformation is AI driven design or ‘Vibe Coding’, we are moving away from manual labor (moving pixels) toward high level curation. The challenge is maintaining the “human touch” and spirit of our products while using AI to build them at lightning speed.

If you could give one non-obvious piece of advice to someone entering design, what would it be?

My advice is to embrace your non design background, my studies in humanities made me know how people think and their behavior. Don’t just learn the software –  focus on the logic and the ‘why’ behind the visuals, understanding how people think and why they interact with the world is what makes you a true product designer, not just a decorator. A designer who understands people will always outshine one who only knows how to use tools.
