Meet Daniel Alexandru Tatu, a München-based UI/UX Designer with a strong background in Marketing.

Why have you decided to step into design field? What inspires you and why?

As I was a child I loved to draw and combine colors. As a teenager I was keen on attending a design fashion university but it was too expensive for my family. So, I end up with a bachelor’s degree in psychology and a master in marketing, that’s funny.

Even though I was working in marketing, I have never stopped designing. I have created a lot of branding, print design and even an interior design for a restaurant as a freelancer.

Recently, I felt in love with UI design. I finished my career in marketing and 100 % dove into UI design field. I am inspired by every single element and emotion that I am able to notice and feel.

How do you measure the success of your design?

A design is a success when the product reaches its purpose. When the user instantly understands its functionality without thinking too much about how to use it or for what it was built. Nevertheless, a sparkling of unexpected added in design drives to a better experience.

What is your biggest challenge in design creation process?

The biggest challenge in design process is to send the right message in a simple and efficient way, to reflect what is on my mind in a clear manner.

What principles do you follow when creating attention grabbing design?

I follow a simple principle which is leading to my final design “Less is more”. I strongly believe that simplicity has more power then complexity and the message is better understood in a simple shape or color scheme.
