Meet Brian Whiting – Senior UI/UX Web Developer and Designer from Montgomery (AL, USA), who loves making things detailed and near perfect.
Why have you decided to step into design field? What inspires you and why?
I decided to step into the design field when I was in a Middle school, when I was being taught how to make websites in 2005. It was a field that caught my attention because of the fact that I can make a website from just complex codes and words that can be visual and also complex for others. Then I learned how to do design on my own from that point and wanted to make the designs that I would see on the websites that was unique and well-made. I just love making something that can make someone look at the details, and the care took into making it.
How do you measure the success of your design?
I measure my success on my designs by showcasing to non-designers and getting feedback. If they say these keywords like “wow, amazing, Did you do that?, Who did that? It really looks amazing” then I know I made something great for a typical user. Especially back when I used to show it to my oldest daughter and she would be brutally honest with me at the age of 4 on if it was good or not.
What is your biggest challenge in design creation process?
My biggest challenge that I can think of for a design creation process is actually sitting down and not being overcome with distraction from seeing the amazing work from others I look up to.
What principles do you follow when creating attention grabbing design?
I always follow the design scope of bringing attention to the small details that many barely look for. Like a shade going here and then a nice complex focus on a detail with shapes. Giving things levels is what my main attention grabber in my designs now lately.
